At one of the most tender times of your life, you deserve to feel accepted, heard and respected when working with a lactation consultant.
I offer gentle support through careful and thorough listening about what matters to you. I draw on a whole variety of approaches I've integrated over the 20-plus years I've been working as a lactation specialist. Whether we meet at your home (where you can be comfy in your PJs) or at my office, your preferences and needs guide the choices we make together.
Meet Diane
I am the mother of two amazing sons who have shaped me into who I am today, both personally and professionally. I can’t say for sure that the close relationships I still share with both of my sons had their roots in breastfeeding. But I can say that breastfeeding set the stage for the trust, connection and joy between us that continues to grow as they get older.
Not only was breastfeeding wonderful for bonding, it turned out to be essential.
My approach
What to expect
I will ask you about your lactation goals and will take a detailed history of your own health and that of your baby’s and will invite you to feed your baby so I can observe the issue(s) you are facing. All of this is to uncover the causes of your/your baby’s current issue(s).
Using this information and keeping your goals in mind, I will create a detailed care plan with suggested effective strategies you can use going forward. I'll ask you for your feedback to make sure you think this plan meets your breastfeeding goals and feels feasible to you. With your OK, I will send a report to your baby’s pediatrician and other health professionals you consult. Finally, I will encourage you to stay in touch with me until you feel good about how things are going.
Initial lactation consultations are approximately 1.5 hours. Follow-up consultations are generally 1 to 1.5 hours and allow us to assess your and your baby's progress, discuss any questions or concerns, and to adjust the care plan as needed.
